Add and verify a website domain
Register the exact website domain, install the project script, verify detection, and enable the widget.
On this page
Before the chat widget can appear on a website, Zeltino needs to know which domain belongs to the project and confirm that the installation script is present there. This connects the published website to the configuration you prepared in the dashboard.
Adding a domain and enabling the widget are separate choices. You can verify a website first, review the installation, and decide when it is ready to show chat to visitors.
In this article, you'll learn:
- How to enter the website domain correctly
- How to install the script and complete verification
- How to enable the visitor widget
- What happens when you remove a domain
- What to check if verification does not complete
Add the domain#
Use the exact hostname visitors open in their browser. Zeltino adds the secure prefix for you, so the field expects the domain rather than a complete page URL.
- Open Settings > Chat widget > Installation.
- Select Add domain.
- Enter the domain without
http://,https://, a page path, query string, or fragment. For example:example.comorshop.example.com. - Select Add domain.
A main domain and a separate subdomain are different installation targets. For example, example.com and shop.example.com should be treated separately when both need their own installation. Zeltino prevents duplicate entries and shows the domain capacity available to the project.
Install and verify#
After adding the domain, Zeltino shows the project-specific script and platform guidance. The script must be published on the same hostname you entered.
- Select the added domain.
- Choose the guide for your website platform.
- Select Copy script to copy the project-specific installation code.
- Place it in the site-wide head location described by the guide.
- Publish the website changes.
- Return to Installation.
- Wait for Verifying to change to Active. Select Refresh check when you want to request another check.
While Zeltino checks the site, the domain shows Verifying. It changes to Active after detection succeeds. This can take time after publishing, especially when a site builder, host, or content delivery cache still serves the previous version.
Enable the visitor widget#
Verification tells you the installation was detected; it does not decide whether visitors should see chat. Turn on Enable chat widget on this website for the selected domain when the experience is ready.
You can select this while verification is in progress, and it applies once the installation is ready.
Leave it off when the verified domain is used as a source but should not show chat.
Remove a domain#
Remove a domain when it no longer belongs to the project or when you want to clear its saved verification. Select Remove domain and confirm. Zeltino will no longer treat that hostname as verified, and re-adding it requires another verification check.
Removing the domain entry does not edit your website. Remove the script from the site separately if it is no longer needed.
If verification does not complete#
If the domain remains Verifying, compare the exact hostname in Zeltino with the published website, confirm that the script is in the global layout, and clear any website cache. Then follow Troubleshoot widget installation and verification for the complete diagnostic path.
