Install the widget on Shopify
Add the project widget script to the Shopify theme layout, publish it, and verify your storefront domain.
Your Shopify storefront uses a shared theme layout for the pages customers visit. Adding the Zeltino script to that layout lets the widget load consistently on the home page, product pages, collections, and the other storefront pages served by the theme.
The important detail is to edit the theme that actually serves the public storefront. This guide shows you where to place the code and how to verify the live domain afterward.
In this article, you'll learn:
- How to copy the Shopify installation script
- How to add it to the theme layout
- How to verify the public storefront
Copy the script#
Start from the domain entry in Zeltino so you copy the code for the correct project:
- Open Settings > Chat widget > Installation in Zeltino.
- Add or select the exact public storefront domain.
- Select Shopify, then Copy script.
Edit the theme layout#
The theme.liquid file is the shared layout for the storefront theme. Adding the script there avoids repeating it on individual pages.
- In Shopify administration, open Online Store > Themes.
- On the theme that serves the public storefront, open Edit code.
- Open
layout/theme.liquid. - Paste the copied Zeltino code before the closing
</head>tag. - Save the file.
If you edit a theme that is not currently published, you can review the change in that theme, but Zeltino will not detect it on the live storefront until the theme is published.
Verify the storefront#
Once the updated theme is live, check the same storefront domain you added in Zeltino.
- Open the public storefront in a private browser window.
- Return to Zeltino Installation.
- Wait for the domain to become Active, or select Refresh check.
- Turn on Enable chat widget on this website.
- Test the home page, a product page, a collection page, and a narrow mobile view.
If a future theme change removes the widget, repeat the theme-layout check before changing the domain settings. For verification or loading problems, follow Troubleshoot widget installation and verification.
